The regional workshop strengthens the capacity of policymakers and stakeholders in the Arab region to advance sustainable, resilient and inclusive energy transitions. It brings together government officials, regulators, utilities and research institutions to exchange national experiences and identify priority policy, regulatory and investment measures. Discussions focus on accelerating renewable energy deployment, improving energy efficiency, modernizing power systems and enhancing energy security.
The workshop explores how digitalization, geospatial tools, smart grids and data-driven approaches support energy planning, grid resilience and renewable energy integration. It also examines opportunities for skills development, innovation, job creation and local value creation.
The discussions draw on findings from ESCWA’s work, including national consultations in Libya and Syria and regional initiatives on solar energy mapping and digitalized power grids. Participants translate these insights into practical actions and identify opportunities for regional cooperation to support evidence-based energy strategies and inclusive, just transitions.
