Under the auspices of His Royal Highness Crown Prince al Hussein bin Abdullah II ESCWA is holding the 1st Arab SMEs Summit in Amman

What: Under the auspices of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing the first Arab SMEs Summit under the theme “Opportunities beyond borders”. This first-of-its-kind summit in the region will be the regional platform to scale-up policy dialogue around small and medium enterprises. It will include 20 main sessions and 10 side events.

When: From Sunday 30 October to Tuesday 1 November 2022, at 9 a.m. Amman time.

Where: Kempinski Convention Centre, Amman, Jordan.

Who:  The opening session of the Summit will feature:

  • H.E. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan;
  • H.E. Yousef Alshamali, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply in Jordan;
  • H.E. Rola Dashti, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA.

Participants will also include about 600 inspiring small and medium-sized enterprises, a number of ministers and high-level officials from the region, as well as Arab investors, donors, economists, journalists, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.

Why: The Summit will assist SMEs in identifying issues that emerged since COVID-19, and proposing adequate solutions. It also aims to provide new opportunities for these SMEs to expand and position themselves for future progress and growth. Furthermore, it will serve as a platform for them to access regional and international markets, and avail of diverse financial resources.
