January 2010

.Realizing the importance of seizing the opportunity that the IGF presents, the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) of ESCWA became involved in the IGF process from its inception. Its most recent publication on the subject was‎ entitled‎ “Internet‎ Governance:‎ Challenges‎ and‎ Opportunities‎ for‎ the‎ ESCWA‎ Member‎ Countries”.3 Published in 2009, the study provides an analytical description of the current situation of Internet governance and the role of involved parties. It elaborates areas that are of most concern to the Arab region and provides relevant guidance for addressing related issues through a set of recommendations, thus making an important contribution to the proceedings of the fourth IGF by compiling the views of a wide array of stakeholders.
