The Regional Commissions are holding a side-event at the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) 2022 to reflect on gaps, challenges and opportunities in implementing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) across their respective regions.
The event is being co-organized by ESCWA, the Economic Commission for Africa, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and highlights the significant scale of migration to and from these regions, identifies common challenges to GCM implementation, and reflects on opportunities to build cross-regional collaboration. Recognizing synergies and commonalities across regions helps advance GCM implementation at national, sub-regional, regional and cross-regional levels.
Speakers include high-level government representatives, United Nations officials and other stakeholders.
