World Statistics Day, celebrated every five years on 20 October, highlights the importance of reliable data in informing policy, driving development, and transforming lives. The 2025 theme “Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone” emphasizes the need for collaboration, trust and innovation in statistical systems.
The 24-hour extended webinar is designed to be a dynamic, inclusive and interactive global virtual event bringing together statisticians, data scientists, policymakers, students and the public. This event builds on an established model of informal exchanges, with a view to demystifying statistics, showcasing innovations and country experiences, and fostering data literacy and trust in official statistics.
The event encourages the development of country-specific plans to celebrate World Statistics Day. It also provides a platform for countries to spotlight their ongoing data and statistics initiatives, promoting greater visibility and knowledge-sharing across the region.
