This workshop is being organized in response to the outcomes of the fourth session of the Committee on Trade Policies in the States Members of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, held on 8-9 July 2025 in Lebanon, and upon the official request of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Bahrain to develop a tailored version of the Global Economywide Trade Simulator Interface (GETSI) for the national economy.
The workshop aims to define the specific features of the national version, including sectoral and geographical coverage, baseline scenario, and data requirements. It tackles the capabilities of the simulation platforms developed by ESCWA for ex-ante assessment of trade policies and economic shocks.
