Persons with disabilities face several barriers that prevent their economic empowerment, including attitudinal and organizational barriers, and the inaccessibility of the labour market. They also experience obstacles when starting their own businesses, scaling up their existing companies, and/or accessing opportunities for training, networking and funding.
To overcome these challenges, ESCWA, in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Network Lebanon and the “ProAbled” programme of the nongovernmental organization “shareQ”, is holding two capacity-building trainings for companies committed to achieving disability-inclusive workplaces in the Arab region. The first training is held online and serves as an introduction to workplace inclusion of persons with disabilities. The second training is held in-person and focuses on the steps that should be taken to ensure an inclusive workplace with participants from Lebanon.
