As part of the Fifth Regional Review of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, ESCWA and the United Nations Population Fund Regional Office for Arab States are organizing the second workshop for national focal points on ageing.
The workshop reviews progress in preparing national review reports, discusses challenges and practical solutions, and draws on countries’ experiences. It also examines the proposed indicators for a composite index on older persons in the Arab region, discusses responses to older persons affected by war and conflict in light of ESCWA policy brief on this subject, and consider preparing a negotiated regional document as an outcome of the 2027 regional conference.
