This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of international trade in goods statistics for Arab countries with limited or no trade statistics. It explores the global recommendations outlined in the "International Manual for Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS 2010)", and discusses challenges and best practices in collecting and processing trade data.
The workshop’s objectives include:
- Increasing awareness and understanding of the international standards and best practices related to merchandise trade statistics.
- Building capacities in Arab countries by providing the practical knowledge and tools needed to produce timely and accurate foreign trade statistics.
- Strengthening collaboration between national statistical offices, customs departments, and other stakeholders involved in trade data collection.
- Providing hands-on training on the skills needed to address challenges in trade data compilation.
- Conducting visits to the Jordanian Department of Statistics and the Department of Customs to observe the practical implementation of trade statistics systems.
