ESCWA and the German development agency (GIZ) are organizing a nine-day regional study tour, Learning from Latin America: Digital and Innovative Solutions to Extend Social Insurance to Informal Women Workers.
Policymakers and practitioners from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia visit Brazil and Uruguay to explore innovative policies and digital solutions for extending social insurance coverage to informal workers, many of whom are women. Through direct engagement with key government institutions, participants examine institutional frameworks, policy design—including benefit packages tailored to the priorities and needs of target groups—and digital implementation processes, such as identification, outreach and enrolment. The exchange enables participants to identify lessons and good practices that can be adapted to the national contexts of the four participating Arab countries.
