This meeting is jointly organized by the United Nations Statistics Division, ESCWA, and the Economic Commission for Africa. It aims to refine key legislative updates and ensure that the legal framework aligns with the United Nations Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics. The meeting follows recommendations from the Arab Thematic Conference on Agile and Resilient National Statistical Systems (Jordan, June 2023) and builds on Tunisia’s 2018/2019 initiative to update its statistical law. The initiative was further emphasized by the challenges faced during COVID-19 and the growing demand for reliable data to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
