As part of the 2020 round of the Population and Housing Census, ESCWA, the United Nations Population Fund, the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics, GCC-Stat, and the League of Arab States, are organizing a regional workshop to review and discuss the experiences of selected Arab countries in conducting the 2020 round of the Population and Housing Census, and to review the work plan for the 2030 census.
The workshop aims to achieve the following:
• Present and discuss countries' experiences in conducting the 2020 round of the Population and Housing Census.
• Present and discuss countries' action plan for conducting the 2030 round of the Population and Housing Census.
• Present and discuss the needed capacity development and knowledge products during the 2030 census round.
• Discuss the importance of census evaluation in population estimates and projections.
• Introduce emerging issues in census-taking: principal and recommendation revision 4 and the way to modern censuses.
