This regional workshop is being held as part of the activities of the pilot project “Strengthening evidence-based interventions for road safety in the Arab region through effective and reliable data recording, processing, and analysis", which ESCWA is implementing in Lebanon, Qatar and Tunisia.
The main objectives of the regional workshop include:
- Reaching consensus on the proposed "AIRSO-MAHDAR" mobile application (Mobile Application for Harmonized Data in the Arab Region) for traffic crash data collection, to serve as a foundation for the development of Arab Integrated Road Safety Observatory (AIRSO).
- Presenting the requirements for the national deployment of the "AIRSO-MAHDAR" mobile application and discussing its adoption for road traffic data collection.
Participants include national focal points for road safety policies and data from ESCWA member States that support the AIRSO project.
