The 8th United Nations Global Road Safety Week, observed from 12 to 18 May 2025 under the theme “Streets for Life: Making Walking and Cycling Safe,” focuses on promoting safer walking and cycling. It highlights practical interventions that can be implemented by governments, international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and educational institutions to support a shift toward healthier, greener, more sustainable, and economically beneficial modes of transport.
As part of its participation, ESCWA is organizing the “Streets for Life: Making Walking and Cycling Safe” regional workshop The event brings together representatives from UNDP, UN-Habitat, the World Bank, national focal points of ESCWA’s Arab Integrated Road Safety Observatory (AIRSO) project, Lebanese NGOs working on road safety and sustainable transport, and students from USJ and AUB.
