The third consultation meeting was held online on 14 September 2021 and centred on the collaborative workplan for Arab regional preparations for the United Nations conference for the midterm comprehensive review of the International Decade for Action, "Water for Sustainable Development", in March 2023.
Discussions focused on identifying upcoming events in which the Water Action Decade in the region can be publicized and further input gathered. Participants agreed to summarize key insights emerging from sessions and events relating to the preparatory process in the form of short briefs, and to consider outputs stemming from relevant publications. The aim is to facilitate consolidation of key regional messages to inform the Water Action Decade regional report. Participants committed to continue engaging in global and regional events and to make use of existing regional mechanisms for identifying and publicizing progress made on water-related actions in the region and raise awareness of the Water Action Decade. Consensus on a tentative date in May 2022 was reached for the regional preparatory meeting.
