Workshop on Deployment of Carbon Capture, Use and Storage in the Arab region, Challenges and Opportunities

The Event is organized under the strategic framework of UNESCWA on strengthening the capacity of Governments of the member countries on mainstreaming the energy-related SDGs into their national development plans and within the context of the SDPD work program for 2016-2017.

The event targets to explore the challenges and the opportunities for wide-scale deployment of Carbon capture , use and storage (CCUS) and examine the side effects of this technology for the Arab region within the context of international and regional environmental laws and from the perspective of water-energy nexus.
The event will discuss the challenges and opportunities as well as policy options and incentives for the large use of the CCUS in Arab countries, in addition to capturing relevant insights into CCUS development in the Arab countries. Regional and international experiences will be highlighted in order to contribute to create a regional platform for knowledge.
