ESCWA is holding the third workshop within the United Nations Road Safety Fund project “Reducing road deaths and injuries in Jordan through increasing the use of safety belts and child restraints”. The workshop is organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Interior in Jordan. It reviews the remaining activities of the project and engages various stakeholders in discussing the appropriate methods to implement them. The different stakeholders seek to develop a successful implementation plan with the ultimate goal of reducing traffic fatalities and injuries in Jordan by raising the level of awareness on the use of seatbelts and child restraints.

The main objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Review the project’s progress and achievements.
  • Discuss the proposed implementation methods for the remaining activities
  • Discuss the proposed design of the awareness and enforcement campaigns and agree on a roadmap for their implementation.
  • Discuss the implementation of the training of trainers course targeting the Public Security Directorate.

Within the same project, ESCWA had conveyed a first workshop to advise on the project's programs and a second workshop to present a regulatory framework to improve road safety.
