ESCWA, in response to a formal request from the Ministry of Industry of Palestine, is convening this workshop to launch the development of a tailored national version of the Global Economy-wide Trade Policy Simulator (GETSI) for Palestine. The initiative builds on the regional experience of ESCWA in adapting GETSI to the needs of Arab countries and applying it to assess trade policies, economic shocks, and their economy-wide implications.
The workshop brings together national stakeholders and ESCWA experts to define the key parameters of the Palestinian GETSI platform, including sectoral coverage, geographic scope, baseline scenario, data requirements.
By clarifying these requirements, the workshop lays the foundation for a practical simulation tool that can support evidence-based trade policymaking, strengthen national analytical capacities, and help decision makers anticipate the potential impact of trade measures and external economic shocks.
