ESCWA is organizing the regional conference entitled “Towards Inclusive Employment and Entrepreneurship Ecosystems in the Arab Region: Challenges and Solutions.” The event brings together government officials, subject matter experts, representatives from organizations of persons with disabilities, and private sector stakeholders to discuss and exchange strategies for advancing the economic empowerment and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. Through high-level dialogues, case study presentations, and expert-led discussions, the conference highlights pioneering policies, inclusive business practices, and regional initiatives that support equitable access to quality employment and entrepreneurship.
Given its significance for social protection for persons with disabilities, and considering the participation of Members of the Expert Group on Social Protection Reforms (EGSPR) in the Arab Region, the conference also serves as the EGSPR’s 11th meeting. The main program is supplemented by a closed session dedicated to the EGSPR, with a focus on reviewing progress since the 2021 Ministerial Declaration on the Future of Social Protection in the Arab Region and enhancing peer exchange and collaboration among member States and regional partners.
